Oct 23, 2019 · It's x2, need x4 for the whole bandwidth. Some later X99 boards have x4 M.2 slots (my EVGA X99 Micro 2 does), older models like my X99 Classified or this board only have an x2. Easiest solution is to just grab a single slot M.2 to PCIe adapter, should boot fine from that as well. Tis what I've done for my rig.
